Notifications

Push notifications

CatchMate can send you push notifications so you never miss important updates, even when the app isn't open.

Enabling notifications

  1. Go to Profile → App Settings → Notifications
  2. Tap Enable push notifications
  3. Your browser or phone will ask for permission — tap Allow

iPhone (PWA) requirements

On iPhone, push notifications require you to install CatchMate to your home screen first (see Installing CatchMate on your phone). They also require iOS 16.4 or later.

After installing the app, system permission is managed in:

iPhone Settings → Notifications → CatchMate → Allow Notifications

If notifications stop arriving on iPhone, that's the first place to check.

Android

If you previously denied permission on Android, reset it in:

Phone Settings → Apps → CatchMate (or your browser) → Notifications → Allow

Notification types — what each one does

NotificationWhen it fires
Friend requestsWhen someone sends you a friend request
Friend request acceptedWhen someone accepts your friend request
Match challengesWhen a friend challenges you to a 1v1 match
Competition resultsWhen a match competition is scored and a result declared
Friend finishes a sessionWhen a friend ends a session (with at least one catch)
Friend PBWhen a friend sets a new personal best weight for any species
New league roundWhen a new round opens in a league you're in
League round resultsWhen a round closes and is scored
League overtakeWhen your position in a league changes

Per-type controls

Once notifications are enabled, each notification type has its own on/off toggle. Turn off any types you don't want without disabling notifications entirely.

Disabling all notifications

Tap Disable notifications in App Settings → Notifications. This removes your device from the notification list entirely. Re-enabling will prompt for browser or system permission again.
