Sessions
Starting a session
Tap the Start New Session button on the home screen to open the new session form and get your rods in the water.
Required fields
- Venue — type the name of your water. If you've added it to your venues list, it appears in the dropdown with auto-fill.
- Date & time — defaults to right now. You can backdate sessions if adding one after the fact.
Optional fields
- Swim / peg — record which swim or area of the lake you're in
- Weight unit — defaults to your preferred unit; can be changed per session
- Number of rods — how many rods you're fishing simultaneously (1–4). Defaults to your profile setting but can be overridden per session
- Target species — set a target fish (e.g. Common Carp) to track progress toward a target weight
- Notes — any pre-session thoughts, weather, conditions
Tackle profiles
After filling in session details you'll be prompted to select a tackle profile for each rod slot. You can assign a different profile per rod, or use the same profile across all rods.
Overnight & multi-day sessions
CatchMate handles sessions of any length. Leave the session running overnight — the session clock continues until you tap End Session. There is no timeout.
