Getting Started
Setting up CatchMate before your first session
Five minutes of setup before your first trip makes every session smoother — here's what to do before you head to the bank.
1. Set your username
Go to Profile → Settings and enter a display name. This appears on PB certificates and shared catch pages.
2. Set your preferred weight unit
Go to Profile → Settings → Weight Unit. Choose lb/oz or kg. This applies across all catches and PB records.
3. Create at least one tackle profile
Go to Profile → App Settings → Tackle Profiles → + New Profile. Build a profile for your main rig — rod, reel, line, hook link, hook size, bait. You can create as many profiles as you have rigs. See the Tackle profiles overview article for full details.
4. Add your regular venues
Go to Venues → + Add Venue. Enter the venue name and postcode. The postcode enables automatic weather capture during sessions and powers the lake map feature.
5. Set your number of rods
Go to Profile → Settings → Simultaneous Rods. Set this to how many rods you typically fish (1–4). This tells CatchMate how to structure each session's rod slots.
