Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about CatchMate Specimen — from multi-discipline use to privacy and analytics.

Can I use CatchMate for both Coarse and Specimen fishing?

Yes. Switch disciplines using the selector at the top of the app. Each discipline has separate sessions, analytics, tackle profiles, and targets. Your account covers all disciplines — there is no need for a second account.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your sessions, catches, and analytics are private by default — only you can see them. You choose what to share publicly, via PB certificates, feed posts, or competitions.

Can I change my weight unit preference?

Yes. Go to ProfileSettingsweight unit preference. You can switch between lbs/oz and kg at any time, and all existing data will display in the new unit.

Why don't I see all my catches in Analytics?

Analytics only include ended sessions. Active (in-progress) sessions are excluded until they are ended. Also check you are viewing the correct discipline — Coarse sessions do not appear in Specimen analytics.

What is the Angling Advisor and does it cost extra?

The Angling Advisor is an AI assistant included with your CatchMate account — no extra charge. It covers both Coarse and Specimen tactics. Select the Specimen pill at the top of the Advisor page for specimen-specific guidance.

Can I invite someone who isn't on CatchMate to a league or competition?

They'll need a CatchMate account first. Once they register, you can add them as a friend and invite them. You can use bot opponents as placeholders in the meantime.

How do I install CatchMate to my home screen?

  • iPhone/iPad: open app.catchmate.fish in Safari → tap the Share icon → Add to Home Screen
  • Android: open in Chrome → tap the three-dot menu → Add to Home Screen (or Install App)

Installing to your home screen unlocks the best offline experience and enables push notifications on iOS.
