Ending a session & AI debrief

When you're done fishing, tap End Session on the live session screen.

Ending a session

You can add:

  • Notes — A free-text field for anything worth remembering (what worked, conditions, peg notes)
  • Final weather — If conditions changed during the session

Tap Confirm End to close the session. Your catch total, weight, duration, and catch rate are saved.

The AI Session Debrief

After ending a session, an AI Debrief is automatically generated. This is a short personalised summary of your session written by the CatchMate Angling Advisor.

The debrief covers four sections:

  1. Overall — A two-sentence summary of the result
  2. What went well — Specific positives based on your catch data
  3. Try next time — One or two practical suggestions for improvement
  4. Tactical tip — A coarse fishing tip relevant to the species you caught, the conditions, and the type of venue

The debrief takes into account your species breakdown, total weight, catch rate, duration, weather, venue, and any notes you added.

Debriefs are saved on the Session Detail page so you can revisit them anytime.

If the debrief fails to generate

If you end a session offline or the AI service is briefly unavailable, the debrief is queued and generated automatically the next time the app has a connection. The session itself is saved either way — only the AI write-up is delayed.
