The Angling Advisor
The Angling Advisor is an AI fishing expert built into CatchMate. It gives practical, experience-based advice on tactics, rigs, bait, and technique for UK coarse fishing — both match and pleasure.
To open the Advisor
Tap Advisor from the home screen.
Asking questions
Type any fishing question in the input box and tap Send (or press Enter). The Advisor replies in real time, streaming its answer as it's generated.
Example questions
- "What's the best approach for silvers on a commercial lake?"
- "How do I set up a method feeder rig?"
- "What elastic should I use for carp on the pole?"
- "Tips for fishing in cold winter conditions?"
- "I'm drawing a far peg on a river — how do I approach it?"
Starter questions
If you're not sure where to begin, the home screen shows six starter questions covering common topics — just tap one to send it.
Conversation memory
The Advisor remembers your full conversation history. You can refer back to things discussed earlier in the chat, and it will remember context from previous sessions. Your history is saved automatically.
Starting a new conversation
Tap the ↺ (reset) icon in the top right to clear the conversation and start fresh. This permanently clears the history.
What the Advisor covers
Pole fishing, waggler, stick float, swimfeeder, method feeder, lure fishing, surface fishing, all UK coarse species, bait selection, groundbait mixes, rig construction, seasonal patterns, match strategy, venue reading, bankside skills, and more.
What the Advisor doesn't do
It only answers fishing-related questions. Non-fishing topics are politely redirected back to coarse fishing.
