Tracking bait performance

Once you've logged several sessions with baits linked through your Tackle Profiles, CatchMate can show you which baits are producing the best catch rates on your waters.

Where to find bait analytics

Go to Analytics → Bait to see a breakdown by bait showing:

  • Total catches attributed to that bait
  • Catch rate (fish per hour)
  • Number of sessions it was used in
  • Average fish weight

How bait attribution works

Each catch is linked to the tackle profile that was active on the rod at the time. The bait in that profile is credited with the catch. This means keeping your tackle profiles up to date — particularly the bait field — is important for accurate stats.

Filtering by period

Use the period filter (3M, 6M, 1Y, All Time) to narrow bait performance to recent sessions. This is useful if you've changed your bait approach and want to see how the new choice is performing compared to your previous one.

Tracking bait changes mid-session

The bait field on a Tackle Profile is permanent — it represents the rod setup as a whole. If you edit it after sessions have already been recorded against it, the change will show up retroactively across your bait analytics for every session that profile was used on.

The right approach is to create one Tackle Profile per rod-and-bait combination before your session. For example:

  • Rod 1 – Bottom Bait
  • Rod 1 – Pop-Up
  • Rod 1 – Wafter

When you switch presentation mid-session, use Change Rig to swap to the matching profile. The switch is recorded at that point in time against only the relevant casts going forward, and your historical data stays accurate.

⚠️ Do not edit the bait field on an existing profile to "correct" it after the session — this will overwrite the bait shown across all previous sessions that profile was used on.
