Fishing spot history and catch pins
Use a named spot to review recorded catches at a saved venue and peg. Link a catch to a depth pin explicitly; a Capture marker records location, and a photo Catch Spot is a separate annotation.
Find a named spot and read its history
A named fishing spot belongs to a saved venue and peg. Its history shows recorded catches and totals. Notes and unlinked marks are not catches, and spot history is not an estimate of catch rate or fishing effort.
Path: saved venue → Fishing spots
- Open the saved venue where you fished.
- Open Fishing spots.
- Check the peg, then review the named spot's recorded catches and totals.
Review recorded catches and session context under a named spot at its saved venue and peg.
Link a catch to a depth pin
A catch's numeric depth does not connect it to a map pin. Choose or confirm an existing depth pin for the same saved venue and peg. Several catches can share one pin.
Path: Catch Log → catch record → Choose a depth pin
- Open the catch in Catch Log.
- Check the venue and peg, then select the correct existing pin under Choose a depth pin.
- Select Save catch link. The catch record shows the pin linked to that catch.
Choose or confirm the existing depth pin for the correct venue and peg; a matching depth number is not a link.
This link does not edit the pin, the named spot or any photo annotation.
Choose a Capture marker or a depth pin
A Capture marker records a catch location on the venue map. A depth pin records a depth. Do not infer a relationship from a nearby marker, a matching depth number, camera direction or visual proximity.
- Open the map for the saved venue and select the Capture marker you want to review.
- Check the Linked catch and Named fishing spot details shown for that marker.
- If you need the named spot's records, select View history.
A Capture marker can link a catch and named spot, but it is not a depth pin.
Link a photo Catch Spot
A Catch Spot is an annotation on a swim photo. When the photo is linked to the correct saved venue and peg, the annotation can be explicitly linked to a named spot and one or more catches. Nearby catches are not assigned automatically. This is separate from a catch-to-depth-pin link and a map Capture marker; adding or changing one does not silently rewrite the others.
For the photo annotation workflow, see Mapping swim photos. Private swim photos load only for an authorised, signed-in user. A public photo link is a separate sharing choice.
Delete a catch linked to a named spot
Deleting a linked catch requires confirmation. The spot history keeps an unavailable entry after the catch is deleted.
- Open the catch from the session's Catch Log and use its bin icon.
- Read the confirmation before you proceed. If the catch is linked to a named spot, its history will keep an unavailable entry.
- If CatchMate cannot check whether the catch is associated with a spot, retry. Deletion cannot proceed until the association can be checked.
For the catch workflow, see Logging catches.
