Privacy & your data
A plain-English summary of what CatchMate Specimen stores about you, where it lives, who can see it, and what you can do with it.
What we store
- Account data — Name, email, username, password (hashed), profile photo and optional account-security settings.
- Specimen fishing data — Sessions, catches, casts, photos, venues, swim or peg details, tackle profiles, bait-library entries, groundbait presets, session plans and reusable presets.
- Fishing analytics and target data — Personal bests, target species, target weights, catch patterns, weather and solunar context associated with your sessions. These are in-app fishing records, not website traffic measurement.
- Social data — Friends list, friend requests, feed posts, reactions, comments, league memberships and competition results.
- Device and usage data — The notification token for any device where you enable push notifications, plus basic technical logs needed to diagnose errors.
Website analytics and pageviews
On published CatchMate Hub pages, Replit may provide automatic pageview and broad traffic analytics when analytics is enabled for the website. This helps us understand approximate visitor trends, popular pages, traffic sources, countries, browsers, and devices. The information is approximate and is not a precise count of individual people. This is separate website-level measurement from the fishing data stored in CatchMate. CatchMate does not add custom analytics events or send fishing records, account details, or private content into this pageview measurement.
Replit's traffic measurement uses network and browser information, including IP traffic data, to produce these approximate website statistics.
Specimen and Coarse records remain separate by pursuit. A Specimen session, catch, plan or tackle profile is not silently moved into Coarse when you change the currently selected discipline.
Where it lives
Your data is stored in the CatchMate cloud database. Catch photos are stored in object storage hosted in the United Kingdom or European Union. Backups are taken regularly.
Who can see what
- Private to you — Your venue notes, free-text session notes, exact catch lists, swim or peg details and sessions you keep private.
- Shared with friends — Your public profile, personal-best information, username and any sessions or summaries you choose to make visible to the feed.
- Shared with linked opponents — For a linked competition, the other participant can see the result information required for that competition, such as session weight, catch count and species breakdown where the feature provides it.
Turning on a sharing option does not make every part of your account public. Use the privacy controls in App settings to control discoverability, feed sharing and leaderboard visibility.
AI features
Session debriefs and Angling Advisor responses are generated by sending the relevant data — such as a session summary or typed question, plus the minimum context needed for the response — to a third-party AI provider for processing. Responses return to CatchMate and may be saved against your account. The request is not retained for AI model training.
Exporting your data
Open Profile → Settings → Export Data to use the export controls currently available in CatchMate Specimen:
- Download Config exports app settings and tackle profiles as a JSON file.
- Download Photos bundles your catch photos into a ZIP file.
- Import Config restores settings and tackle profiles from a previous configuration export.
For a copy of other account data not covered by the available export controls, use the contact link on catchmate.fish.
Deleting your account
Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Read the warning and confirm the deletion. This permanently removes your account and associated Specimen data, including sessions, catches, photos, tackle profiles, plans, presets, social data and analytics. This cannot be undone.
Deleting your account also affects the account-wide CatchMate data associated with your other pursuits. Export anything you want to keep before confirming deletion.
