Adding friends | CatchMate Coarse Help

The social features in CatchMate Coarse are built around friends — anglers you follow whose results, PBs, and sessions you can see. Adding friends unlocks the social feed, season comparisons, match competitions, and shared venue maps.

To find and add a friend

Open the Social tab (from the bottom navigation, or wherever you've placed it via Customise the navigation bar)
Tap Find Friends or the search icon
Type a username — search results appear as you type
Tap Add Friend on their profile card

The request is sent immediately. Once they accept, they appear in your friends list and their activity starts showing in your social feed.

Accepting a friend request

When someone adds you, you receive a notification and a badge appears on the Social tab. Go to Social → Friend Requests to accept or decline.

If you decline a request the other angler is not notified — the request simply disappears from their end.

Viewing a friend's profile

Tap any friend's name or avatar to open their profile. You can see:

Their recent sessions (if they've made them visible in their privacy settings)
Their personal bests across all species
Their total catch count and weight stats
Their shared venue maps, if any
Options to challenge them to a match or compare season stats side by side

What friends can see about you

What your friends see on your profile is controlled by your privacy settings. Go to Profile → App Settings → Privacy to choose which of the following are visible:

Sessions — whether completed sessions appear on your profile and in their feed
Personal bests — whether your PBs are shown
Catch stats — whether your cumulative totals are visible

You can change these at any time. Changes take effect immediately.

Managing your friends list

To view all your current friends, go to Social → Friends. From here you can:

Tap any friend to open their profile
Use the search bar to find a specific friend by name or username

Removing a friend

Open their profile and tap Remove Friend. They won't be notified, and they will no longer appear in your friends list or see your activity in their feed.

Tip: Your username is how other anglers find you — make sure it's recognisable to your fishing group. You can check or change it in Profile → App Settings → Account.
